How is Stress Related to Disease?
Every person is
born with a miraculous healing system that protects any physical or
non-physical issue. Stresses of life and life situations lower the immune
system, thereby affecting health both physical and mental.
According to a Stanford
University Medical School research by Dr. Bruce Lipton, stress causes at least
95% of disease. The remaining 5% is genetic and is caused by stress somewhere
in the ancestry. CDC (center for disease control) USA, also affirm that 90% of
disease is related to stress.
According to
Harvard Medical School website, “Too much stress for too long creates what is
known as ‘chronic stress’ which has been linked to heart disease, stroke and
may also influence cancer and chronic respiratory diseases. And illness is just
the tip of the iceberg. Stress affects you emotionally, as well, marring the
joy you gain from life and loved ones.”
WHAT IS STRESS
Stress is any
situation that makes an individual anxious, angry or frustrated. Continued
stress can throw the nervous system out of balance. When the nervous system is
out of balance, it throws the rest of the body out of balance.
Human brain has
generally been compared to a computer with a self-healing program. This program
becomes corrupted through everyday stresses. When the hard drive becomes
corrupted, so do the programs, files, and documents. In the same manner, when
the nervous system is thrown out of balance, damage occurs in organs, tissues
and cells. This damage manifests in the form of illness and disease.
HOW DOES STRESS LOWER THE IMMUNE SYSTEM?
Studies
have shown that psychological tensions influence the body the moment they begin
in the mind. Strain, pressure, anxiety, insecurity, irritability, nervousness
are mind-sets that not only cause mental symptoms like depression and insomnia,
but also influence blood and cells negatively.
During
extreme stress, blood flow changes completely. It is referred to as Fight or
Flight. During fight or flight, blood is no longer going to the stomach to digest food; nor is it
going to the frontal lobes of the brain for creative thought; or the kidneys
and liver. A greater portion of blood is going to the muscles, because the body
thinks it is going to have to fight harder or run faster to avoid whatever is
threatening it. Therefore it does not have to digest food in the bowel, or
clear toxins from the liver, or balance electrolytes in the kidneys, or have
creative thought, because if you don’t survive the next few minutes all of that
does not matter.
When stress
persists on a daily basis, day after day for long periods of time, it becomes chronic
stress. In this situation the organs continue to receive reduced portions of
blood they otherwise need for proper function. As a result, organ potency is
weakened and their ability to fight disease compromised.
Acid Reflux
is a prime example. Acid Reflux is a disease when the acid in the stomach
washes back up into the esophagus, damaging its lining. The result is pain,
ulcers and eventually cancer. This happens because esophageal muscles require
blood and energy which is now being used up by stress. In time, muscle tone
around lower esophagus weakens. Without
proper blood and energy supply, cells are neither able to repair nor protect
themselves from the acid.
Medical
solution is to give a pill to stop the acid. It works quite effectively, but in
reality is only masking the system. Acid is needed to digest food and kill
bacteria. Now, there is an extra load of bacteria, and food remains in the
stomach longer until enough acid is produced to digest it. This means a longer
period of exposure to acid…
How does the
body manifest stress into so many symptoms and diseases? The answer lies in the
weakest link towards which we may be genetically predisposed. It could also be a
toxin we ingested, or a prior physical or emotional injury which have left
certain areas of the body weaker than others. Those areas are the first to give
in to the destructive energy frequencies of stress.
HOW TO OVERCOME STRESS
Our body is a
miraculous machine genetically designed to heal itself. Pain and discomfort are
body’s ways of telling us there is something wrong. Anxiety, depression, loneliness and feelings
of gloom and isolation are also minds call for help.
Anti-anxiety and
anti-depressant pills only mask the symptoms. True healing can only take place when
the deep rooted issues embedded in the unconscious mind are addressed and
treated.
Mindful Walking,
Stretching Exercises, Yoga, Deep Diaphragmatic Breathing and Meditation have
been found to help slow down the minds activity. As the unsettling energy
wavelengths of Alpha
slow down to Beta, or Theta, their harmful effects also decrease.
As a result the organs and tissues begin to heal.
At
Ankh Holistic Health, we help open the energy
pathways through a regimen of proper diet, breathing and intestinal
exercises, tapping techniques, stretching poses and meditations, so that energy
can start flowing freely through the body. Once the blockages are removed and
energy is flowing freely, the body can heal itself.
