AYURVEDA
Ayurveda
is an ancient health-care system that originated in India. It means “Science of
Life.” It is based on nature’s rhythms and laws and is built around the five
elements of fire, water, air, earth and ether.
According
to Ayurveda, everything in the universe, animate and inanimate, is connected
through cosmic energy. When we are in living harmony with universal laws, good
health follows. When this harmony is disturbed, disease and sickness
follow.
Ayurvedic
system of wellness concentrates on prevention. Its goal is to attain optimal
health through a deeper understanding of oneself, and the world around. It is a
system based on natural healing which strengthens body, mind, and spirit.
According
to Ayurvedic philosophy, every person is made of a combination of five
basic elements: Space, Air, Fire, Water and Earth.
A combination of these five elements makes
up three basic principles or constitutions known as the tridoshas, which are Vata, Pita and Kapha. Vata Dosha comprises of Ether and Air.
Pita dosha is created from Fire and Water. Kapha Dosha is formed by Earth and
Water.
These three doshas control all
biological, psychological and physical functions of the body, mind and
consciousness. We are born with a combination of all three doshas, but usually,
one dosha is more dominant than the others. It is believed that health and sickness
are related to the balance or imbalance of doshas.
According
to Ayurveda, the root of all disease is ama (toxins) created from poorly
digested foods. Toxins are also created by repressed anger, fear and anxiety...
Such negative emotions aggravate the pita, causing inflamed patches on the
mucous membranes of the stomach and intestines. The result is bloating and
heartburn.
Our
bodies naturally work on eliminating excess toxins which are deposited in our
colon and skin during the nighttime hours. Ayurveda emphasizes changes in
lifestyles by improving the processes of digestion and elimination to prevent
toxins from backing up and getting reabsorbed in the body.
At Ankh Holistic
Health, after a detailed examination of pulse, tongue, lips, nails and eyes, a
diagnosis is made and treatment plan is prepared according to a client’s constitution.
AYURVEDA AND BEAUTY
Skin is the largest organ of the body which protects other organs from
toxins and infections. It is the first
to reflect our state of health and expose what is happening inside the body. It
forewarns us of the internal imbalances of the organs before they become major
health issues. The goal of Ayurvedic skincare is to restore the beauty of a healthy
skin.
At Ankh Holistic Health, after a thorough evaluation of the skin, a
regimen of rejuvenating facials, abhiangs (massages) essential oils, herbs,
scrubs, and poultices is devised so that blocked energy may begin to flow
through the Marma Points. Not only
does this procedure heal the body, but the skin appears brighter, tighter and
younger.
AYURVEDA AND
ASTROLOGY
According to Ayurveda, sun is related to consciousness, and the moon to
the mind and emotions. Planets are closely related to the organs. For example,
Mars is related to blood and liver; Saturn to muscular functions; Venus to
prostate glands and ovaries; Mercury to reasoning abilities.
At Ankh Holistic Health we coach our clients to keep in tune with the
solar and lunar energies. For example at the time of the full moon, solar
energies become intense. Because sun is related to Pita, we advise people with
aggravated Pita dosha to do certain energy exercises and meditations to avoid
the malefic effects of the sun. Our health management techniques are time
tested and known to work.
AYURVEDA AND NUMEROLOGY
Our dates of birth are divine codes that unlock
secret information about our physical emotional and spiritual health. Dates of
birth have, since time immemorial, been considered as indicators of character
and karma. The nine birth numbers represent archetypes in human beings, the
nine orifices, and how each orifice is associated to a certain planet, and
certain organs and tissues of the body.
At Ankh Holistic Health we recognize the special
energy resonance of each number and its effect on an individual. A detailed
analysis of the date of birth gives us an insight into the client’s potential
strengths, weaknesses, predispositions and talents. With this insight we create
a detailed healing program to balance the energy and restore health and
happiness.
